The Construction Information Technology Alliance, or CITA as it is more commonly referred to, facilitated six regional Building Information Modelling (BIM) events around Ireland, culminating in an event in the Clarion Hotel, Sligo, on the 24th of September. As part of this event, Raymond O’Reilly of Kilcawley Construction, opened proceedings with an overview of his InterTrade Ireland Fusion Research Project with Queen’s University Belfast’s School of Planning, Architecture and Civil Engineering (Construction Management). His presentation and associated research project investigates the implementation of Building Information Modelling within a large main contractor; highlighting the difficulties, but also the benefits achieved to date. His presentation was well received and resulted in further interest in Queen’s University Belfast’s development of Building Information Modelling.
