Yulian Manev wins GIA Alexander Thomson Scholarship

Yulian Manev has emerged as the unanimous choice for the Alexander Thomson Scholarship 2016 following a Glasgow Institute of Architects administered competition to produce an A5 drawing themed on ‘detail’.

Manev’s entry, titled ‘Foundations’, was one of 70 to be received by the organisers, earning its author a £1,200 top prize.

A judges citation read: “The winning drawing is superb and exquisitely executed. The attention to the material qualities in a monochromatic rendering is reinforced by the strong composition of the page which sensitively balances the window and the wall.”

Three other shortlisted entries (pictured below) were singled out for runner up status with judges handing each a highly commended accolade.
