Street Society is our Annual Live Project in Architecture. It involves 1st year undergraduate and 1st year postgraduate students working together on live projects for community organisations. In March 2016, Street Society was funded through DCAL as part of the Urban Villages methodology for consultation and engagement and is now cited in all five urban villages Strategic Framework Documents ie: EastSide; Ardoyne & Greater Ballysillan; South Belfast; Colin; Bogside, Fountain and Bishop Street.
At the launch of the Urban Villages Strategic Frameworks where the outcomes of Street Society were also exhibited, the junior Minister, Alastair Ross explained that ‘The Frameworks are designed to improve good relations and develop areas with a history of deprivation and community tension. They highlight ways Government, working in tandem with local communities and other stakeholders, can make a tangible difference for the better.’
Street Society will continue to work with the Urban Villages Initiative in 2017.
