Roisin Hyde wins Best Poster Award at IOM3 Conference

Architecture PhD candidate Roisin Hyde was awarded the Best Poster Award at the recent Cement and Concrete Science Conference hosted by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining in Cardiff. Roisin’s work is focused on the development of ultra high performance geopolymer concrete for facade cladding applications. This PhD project aims to design, develop, test and install lightweight, ultra high-performance geopolymer over-cladding sandwich panels. Panels will have thinner profile, but higher thermal resistance, than standard precast cladding. They will be produced by an innovative manufacturing process that includes 3D laser scanning, 3D printing of formwork and reconfiguratble moulding.  Roisin is working on the IMPRESS Horizon 2020 project with Dr. Oliver Kinnane who is project PI.
